LAND RECOGNITION: HONORING THE ROOTS OF S'ÓLH TÉMÉXW

As we stand on the ground beneath our feet, we're not just touching the earth; we're connecting with the layers of history, stories, and cultures that have shaped this land long before us. It's a profound realization that to recognize the land is to embrace respect, gratitude, and a commitment towards a future that values inclusivity and awareness.

Today, we extend our heartfelt respect and gratitude towards the Indigenous communities whose ancestral lands we have the honor of working and living on, particularly the Stó:lō Matsqui, Sumas, and Kwantlen First Nations, alongside the Nooksack Indian Tribe.

This region, known as S'ólh Téméxw in the Halq'eméylem language, meaning "Our Land," carries with it a spirit of collective stewardship and connection, a reminder of the deep bond between people and their environment.

These communities have been the guardians of S'ólh Téméxw from the beginning, safeguarding its beauty, resources, and essence for the generations that follow. Their history, traditions, and wisdom enrich this land like the rivers that traverse it, offering lessons in sustainability, community, and a profound respect for the natural world.
